The problem of stray dogs in Alwar is becoming serious. In the last five months, 4,907 people have been victims of dog bites. The situation became so bad that the Union Minister himself had to direct the Municipal Corporation to start sterilization and vaccination campaign.

Negligence of municipality
The Animal Husbandry Department wrote a letter to the Municipal Corporation three times demanding to start a sterilization program, but no concrete steps were taken. The campaign was stopped due to lack of budget. Recently, the budget was released after the Union Minister’s insistence, which has led to the possibility of sterilization and vaccination campaign.

Let us tell you that on an average, 32 people bites dogs every day. The demand for anti-rabies vaccines in hospitals is increasing, but a permanent solution to the problem is possible only by sterilization and vaccination.

Protest of animal lovers
Some animal lovers are opposing sterilization campaign. They are obstructing the efforts of the municipality by saying that the dogs are innocent. Recently, when the Municipal Corporation team reached to catch the dogs in scheme number 2, some animal lovers created a ruckus and the team had to return empty -handed.

Sterilization campaign scheme
According to the Municipal Corporation, 1,220 dogs will be sterilized in 2024, but no special campaign was carried out this year. Now after the instructions of the Union Minister, a target has been set to sterilize 100 dogs every week. Experts believe that this process needs to be accelerated. Municipal corporation officials say that to get control of the problem of dogs in the city, the castration and vaccination campaign will be given priority in the next few months.
