After this post went viral, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has made a special appeal to the users.
The Department of Telecommunications, while posting a screenshot of the post going viral from its official X handle, has written that avoid such misleading posts. Scammers can cheat you through this. Praising the wicket-keeping skills of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, DoT said that such scams should be immediately reported on Sanchar Saathi’s Chakshu portal.

A post is going viral on the social media platform Instagram, in which a direct message is being sent to the user with the username MS Dhoni (mahi77i2). In the message, the scammer identifying himself as Dhoni is telling people that he is in an outlying area of Ranchi and has forgotten his wallet. Can you PhonePe him Rs 600, so that he can go to his home by bus. Dhoni, posing as a scammer, is also telling people that he will return the money after reaching home.
Not only this, the scammer has also posted a photo of the cricketer to trap people and has written that ‘my selfie is a testimony to this’. Besides, the theme song ‘Whistle Podu’ of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing in IPL has also been sent in the message.
DoT made special appeal
DoT has asked people to report any cyber fraud related complaints on the recently launched Chakshu portal. Let us tell you that in the last one month, more than 1 lakh complaints about online scams have been made on this portal. Not only this, the Department of Telecommunications has issued instructions to telecom companies to block more than 10 thousand mobile numbers through this portal.
