New Delhi. On the occasion of World Environment Day, ‘Delhi State Legal Services Authority’ affiliated to various departments and organizations has celebrated ‘Environmental Literacy Day’ from last 29.5.2022 to 5.6.2022. This year will be 50 years of World Environment Day. It is known that on the last 29.5.2022, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority had started the environmental literacy program in Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary, Delhi. Earlier, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority had organized a one day workshop on 1.06.2022 for providing legal aid for environmental protection at NDMC Convention Center in Delhi. Mainly, the objective of the above workshop was to develop legal aid leadership and para legal volunteer-like mechanisms, so that people can imbibe an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Judges of the Supreme Court, Judges of Delhi High Court, senior advocates of Supreme Court and Delhi High Court, environmental activists, 115 legal leaders, para legal volunteers and 30 legal students graced the above program with their presence.
It should be noted that the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, Directorate of Education, GNCTD, Association of Universities had also organized a webinar on the topic of Environment Legal Literacy through various sessions on June 2-3. Mainly the purpose of the above webinar was to create awareness about environmental issues among the professors, teachers and students. Which has been seen by more than 2.30 lakh people so far. The Delhi State Legal Services Authority had carried out various kaleidoscope activities during the Environment Week across Delhi. In which street plays, planting of micro forests and distribution of clothes were to be carried out. In this episode, so far more than 1500 forests have been planted in the mentioned areas.
At the same time, during the Environment Literacy Week, the culmination ceremony was organized in Tihar Jail today i.e. on Sunday. Where the vertical gardener was planted through waste plastic. At the same time, a workshop was organized for the education of the prisoners of 18 to 21 years, which is still going on. Apart from this, micro forest was organized in Tihar Jail. The above program was attended by many dignitaries including Delhi High Court Judge Navin Chawla.
