For many years, geologists have been warning that a big and devastating earthquake can occur in the hilly areas of India. The reason for this is that the Indian plate is constantly colliding with the Eurasian plate. The collision of these plates under the earth causes earthquakes. The Indian plate is constantly sliding upwards. Where it keeps colliding with the Eurasian plate. This collision has been going on for millions of years and due to this the Himalayas have also been formed. Earthquake is such a natural disaster that cannot be predicted in advance. The reason for this is that till date scientists have not been able to make any instrument to accurately predict earthquakes. Only by seeing the vibrations in the seismograph, scientists are able to tell whether a big earthquake can occur in the future or not. It is also difficult to tell its exact date.
