Pakistan has been seeing continuous increase in earthquake incidents in recent times. Earlier on May 5, earthquake tremors were recorded in the northern regions of Pakistan around 4 pm. At that time the earthquake had a intensity of 4.2 and its center was 36.60 degrees north latitude and 72.89 degrees pre -longitude. Pakistan had the biggest shock due to earthquake on 8 October 2005, when a devastating earthquake of 7.6 magnitude occurred at 8:50 am. Its center was in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. This terrible disaster caused heavy destruction on both sides of the Line of Control. According to data, more than 80,000 people lost their lives in this earthquake. In some reports, the death toll was stated to be more than 1 lakh. Apart from this, millions of people had become homeless and kept trying to overcome the effects of that earthquake for years.

Geologists believe that many parts of Pakistan are particularly sensitive to earthquake. Constant seismic activities indicate that there may be a possibility of serious earthquakes in the future also. Experts suggest that the government needs to further strengthen disaster management preparations and public awareness, so that the loss in any disaster is reduced.
