The Election Commission has given an important information today. The Election Commission said that we are seizing money worth Rs 100 crore every day to prevent the influence of money power in elections. The Commission said that till now we have seized more than 4000. The Election Commission said that from March 1 we are confiscating Rs 100 every day. The Commission has given this information in a press conference today on Monday.
More seizures than Lok Sabha in 2019
The Commission further said that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, election officials are seizing Rs 100 crore every day since March 1. Enforcement officials have so far seized Rs 4,650 crore even before the start of voting for the Lok Sabha elections, which is much more than the total seizure made in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Commission said that Rs 395.95 crore cash has been seized and liquor worth Rs 489.31 crore, drugs worth Rs 2068.58 crore, gold worth Rs 562.10 crore and other goods worth Rs 1142.49 crore have been seized.
First phase of voting on April 19
According to the EC statement, “As the process of 2024 general elections continues, the Commission is on track to make the highest seizure in the 75-year history of Lok Sabha elections in the country.” For your information, let us tell you that the first phase of voting for the country’s 18th Lok Sabha elections will be held on Friday i.e. April 19, before which the enforcement agencies have seized more than Rs 4,650 crore to curb money power.
