New Delhi: ED has arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor scam. This is the 16th arrest made by ED in the Delhi liquor scam. Earlier, the investigating agency had arrested Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti leader K. Kavita was arrested. After this, Arvind Kejriwal reached Delhi High Court to avoid arrest. In the hearing held in this case on Thursday, the High Court had refused to grant relief to Kejriwal. After this, the ED team reached the CM residence at seven in the evening. He was arrested here after two hours of interrogation.
ED arrested sitting CM for the first time
With the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, this is the first time in the 68-year history of the Enforcement Directorate that the investigating agency has arrested a sitting CM. ED had not arrested any sitting CM yet. Earlier, ED had also arrested former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, but he had resigned from the post of CM shortly before his arrest. Only after this the ED arrested him. After his arrest from CM residence, ED took Kejriwal directly to its office.
Will be presented in Rouse Avenue Court on Friday
Kejriwal’s medical will be done in the ED office itself. After this, he will be presented in Rouse Avenue Court on Friday. Where ED can ask for his remand. Kejriwal’s lawyers have also filed a petition in the Supreme Court. He also appealed for immediate hearing in this matter. However, the hearing was not held on Thursday, after which it is being said that the court can hear the matter on Friday. Let us tell you that former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh have also been arrested in the Delhi liquor scam.
