According to sources, this raid is being conducted in connection with the alleged land grabbing case against former Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren, but this is a case related to a different plot. He said that the agency has also registered a case with the police under the Arms Act in connection with the recovery of the carcass.
25 people have already been arrested
As part of its probe into the case, the ED has arrested over 25 people, including Soren, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhabi Ranjan, Bhanu Pratap Prasad and others. The agency has seized land worth Rs 266 crore, including several plots allegedly acquired illegally by Soren in Bargain area of Ranchi, and has filed four chargesheets so far.
ED recovered cartridges
Hemant was arrested by the ED on January 31
Rejecting the allegations of land grabbing, Soren says that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government has filed this case against him out of political vendetta. On January 31, minutes after he resigned as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, the ED arrested him from Raj Bhavan in Ranchi.
