New Delhi, Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Friday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was working as a political weapon of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and that it was tapping the phone of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Wants to know information about AAP’s Lok Sabha election strategy.
AAP’s national convenor Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in a money laundering case related to Delhi Excise Policy and he will remain in the custody of the Central Investigation Agency till April 1.
At a press conference here, Atishi alleged that ED’s insistence on examining Kejriwal’s mobile phone proves that the agency is working as a “political weapon” of the BJP. He claimed that the mobile phone was a few months old and was not there when the policy was made and implemented.
Atishi, a minister in the Kejriwal government, said, “Actually, it is the BJP and not the ED that wants to know what is in Kejriwal’s phone.” He claimed that the excise policy was implemented in 2021-22 and the Chief Minister’s current phone is just a few months old. According to Atishi, ED has said that Kejriwal’s phone of that time is not available and now it wants the password of his new phone.
He alleged, “They want the phone because they will find in it information related to AAP’s Lok Sabha election strategy, campaign plans, talks with leaders of ‘India’ alliance and media and social media strategy. “
Some opposition parties have formed ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) alliance to challenge BJP in the parliamentary elections, which also includes AAP, Trinamool Congress, Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Samajwadi Party.
