New Delhi. In the liquor scam case, ED’s grip on the accused is getting stronger. On Wednesday, the troubles of K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao, increased in this case. Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday took cognizance of the supplementary chargesheet filed by the ED against BRS leader K Kavitha and others in the money laundering case related to the alleged liquor scam. Special judge for ED and CBI cases Kaveri Baveja said that the prosecution’s complaint, the version of the chargesheet of the Enforcement Directorate, has prima facie ‘sufficient’ evidence against the accused. The judge issued a production warrant for June 3 against K Kavitha, MLC from Telangana and daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
K Kavita is currently lodged in judicial custody in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. The entire case is related to alleged corruption and money laundering in the now-expired excise policy of the Delhi government for 2021-22. Kavita has been arrested by both ED and CBI agencies. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities. After this, on the basis of the FIR lodged by the CBI on August 17, 2022, the ED registered a case on August 22 of the same year.
