Earlier this month, ADR had claimed that there was a difference between the number of votes cast and the number of votes counted in the Lok Sabha elections. Association for Democratic Reforms- ADR has claimed that there is a huge difference between the number of votes cast and the number of votes counted in 538 constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections. ADR had also written a letter to the Election Commission regarding this claim. Many opposition parties including Congress had put the Central Government and the Election Commission in the dock over this claim of ADR.
Rejecting these allegations, the Election Commission has said that a false campaign is being run to defame the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission claimed that baseless attempts are being made to compare the estimated voting of voters at 7 pm on the polling day with the end of polling.
Election Commission -ECI said that a false campaign is being run to defame the Lok Sabha elections 2024. On the social media platform X, the Election Commission wrote, “A false campaign is being run by some people to defame the largest elections ever conducted in the most transparent manner in the history of mankind.”
The Election Commission claimed that baseless attempts are being made to compare the estimated voter turnout at 7 pm on polling day with the close of polling figures, which are made available a day after the end of polling.
The Commission has written, “An unfounded attempt has been made to compare the estimated voting percentage at 7 pm on the polling day with the voting percentage available a day after the voting.”
Vote for Democracy (VFD) report creates uproar
Vote for Democracy, Maharashtra released its report on Lok Sabha elections 2024 on July 22. The report mentions the irregularities that came to light during the elections, the role of the Election Commission and Returning Officers, the difference between the votes cast and counted, and the dumped votes.
