Amravati: The Election Commission has issued a notice to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu for making controversial statements against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The notice alleges violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). TDP chief Naidu had reportedly used several objectionable words for CM Jagan during his election speeches on March 31.
48 hours time given to reply
According to the notice issued by the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu has been given 48 hours to give clarification regarding the derogatory comments made against Jagan Mohan Reddy. The notice was issued following a complaint by Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) state general secretary Laila Appi Reddy.
A copy of the speech in a pen drive was given to the Election Commission.
According to the notice, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu allegedly used derogatory language for CM Reddy during election rallies held in Yemmiganur, Markapuram and Bapatla constituencies. YSRCP had provided Chandrababu Naidu’s speeches in a pen drive to the Election Commission. The Commission has reviewed Naidu’s speeches and said that the TDP chief prima facie appears to have violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.
