Haryana was established in the year 1966. After this, 14 Lok Sabha elections were held, out of which, except one election, Haryana MPs played a special role in forming the government at the Center in 13 elections. If we look at the records, only in the elections held in 1998, the state did not have any significant role in forming the government. The special thing is that most of the times the voters of this state have expressed confidence in the Congress party only.
What is the election history?
In total 14 Lok Sabha elections, Haryana’s voters have shown faith in a single party or alliance more than half the times. In the years 1967 and 1971, Congress won 7-7 seats in the state. At the same time, in the 4 Lok Sabha elections in the state, various parties have made a clean sweep of all the seats in the state. This series of clean sweeps started in the year 1977. During the anti-Congress wave, Bharatiya Lok Dal had won all 10 seats and Congress had to face a crushing defeat. However, in the years 1991, 2004 and 2009, Congress had captured 9 seats each in the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections also, BJP had won all the 10 seats in the state.
When are elections in Haryana?
Voting will be held simultaneously for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. Voting will be held here in the sixth phase on May 25. Along with this, voting will also be held on the Karnal assembly seat on the same day. Along with this, counting of votes will take place here along with the entire country on June 4 and the results will be announced.
