Jaipur. After the Lok Sabha election results in Rajasthan, five assembly seats will become vacant. Due to this, assembly by-elections will be held on them. Of these, three MLAs of Congress and two MLAs of other parties have now become MPs. The seats that have become vacant due to the MLAs becoming MPs include Jhunjhunu, Deoli-Uniyara, Dausa, Banswara and Khinvsar. These five seats have been won by Congress and its allies of the All India Alliance.
In Rajasthan, Congress has made a strong comeback in the Lok Sabha elections after ten years and has restricted BJP to just 14 seats out of 25. BJP was claiming to make a hat-trick by sweeping the elections again. But the gamble backfired and it was reduced to just 14 seats. In order to compete with BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress had given three seats to local parties under the India Alliance, keeping in mind the political equations.
Congress’s alliance strategy worked
This strategy of Congress worked and the alliance won all the three seats. Out of these, Hanuman Beniwal of RLP won the election from Nagaur seat. He was an MLA from Khinvsar. That seat became vacant after his victory. The second seat of the alliance was Banswara. Rajkumar Raut of Bharat Adivasi Party won the election from Banswara. Raut was an MLA from Banswara. So now that seat has also become vacant. The third seat of the alliance was Sikar. Amararam of CPI(M) won the election there. But Amararam was not an MLA from anywhere at the moment. He had lost the last assembly election.
These three Congress MLAs became MPs
Among the three other seats, Congress MLA from Deoli-Uniyara of Tonk district, Harishchandra Meena has become MP from Tonk-Sawaimadhopur. Jhunjhunu MLA Brijendra Ola has also won the election. Third, Congress’ Dausa MLA Murarilal Meena has also become MP from Dausa. Hence, these three seats have also become vacant. By-elections will be held soon on these five seats and there will be a fierce contest in Rajasthan once again.
