Looking at the bright future of electric cars in India, Elon Musk, the owner of electric car maker Tesla, wants to launch his cars in India, but now it seems that Tesla will not launch its cars in India and will set up those production units.
Actually, the matter is related to a social media post where a user named Madhu Sudhan V asked Elon Musk a question about Tesla cars in India and asked if Tesla is setting up its manufacturing plant in India in future.
Responding to this question from a Twitter user, Elon Musk said that “Tesla will not set up a manufacturing plant in any place where we are not previously allowed to sell and service cars”.

According to Tesla, India is the only country in the world where the highest import duty is levied on foreign cars or other luxury vehicles. Keeping this in mind, the company had appealed to the central government to reduce the import duty on these electric cars before launching its cars in India.

On this appeal of Tesla, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that if Tesla wants to come to India then he is welcome. They come to India and set up manufacturing units here and invest here, but if they make cars in China and sell them in India, it will not work.
But Elon Musk wants the Indian government to not only reduce the import duty on Tesla cars, but also allow China-made cars to be sold in India. If the Indian government accepts these demands of Tesla, then its negative message will go to other domestic and foreign companies.
Let us tell you that the import duty on foreign vehicles in India is 100 percent on electric vehicles or up to 60 percent import duty is levied on cars costing more than 40 thousand dollars.
