There is often talk about the new technology Artificial Intelligence (AI). Various things are being said about both its risks and benefits. Meanwhile, Rajesh Nambiar, chairman of industry body NASSCOM, said on Sunday that employees in sectors like business process outsourcing (BPO) are at the highest risk of being affected due to Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to Bhasha news, he also says that the mainstay of the Indian technology industry is the software services industry and the employees there do not need to worry much.
Risk of some being replaced by AI engines too soon
According to the news, NASSCOM Chairman said in a seminar organized in Pune that people who work in process related industries, what we traditionally call BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). Some of them are at risk of being replaced by AI engines very soon. Let me also tell you that Nambiar is also the Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian unit of global technology company Cognizant. Nambiar emphasized that the US$48.9 billion BPM (Business Process Management) industry has largely evolved from the management of simple business processes.
White collar jobs will not be affected
Concerns have increased about the impact of AI on jobs. This is especially being said for the Indian technology sector worth more than $250 billion, which contributes significantly to the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. In the case of the software services industry, Nambiar said that professionals who do not use AI in their work risk being replaced by those who do. He said that generative AI will impact high-wage, high-skilled (white collar) jobs more.
Artificial Intelligence will not affect those who repair electricity or air conditioners, but the jobs of stock market analysts and those who have knowledge of statistics will be affected. Its short-term impact may seem negative, but on a long-term basis its impact will be much greater than we can imagine.
