Khargone (Rep. of New Zealand). Due to the conversion of Khandwa-Vadodara highway passing through the district headquarters into a national highway, an exercise has been started for the widening of the road. On Monday, from around one o’clock in the afternoon, the process of removing encroachment on one side of the road from Navagraha Temple Tirahe in Aurangpura of the city was started. Bulldozers were run on unpaved and pucca encroachments in an area of about 124 meters. During this, the residents of the area protested in front of the authorities and accused them of being biased and taking action under pressure. SDM Milind Dhoke said that at present about 85 houses have been identified, including 22 lessees. The lessees will be displaced.
During the action, along with SDM Dhoke, Tehsildar Yogendrasinh Maurya, Naib Tehsildar Praveen Singh Changar, CMO Priyanka Patel and ASP Neeraj Chaurasia reached Navagraha Tirahe along with the staff. After inspecting the spot here, the SDM gave instructions to demolish the houses built. After this the houses were demolished one after the other with the help of JCB. At the same time, the Vivikam team disconnected the electricity connections of the respective houses and shops.
women lodged protest
During the action, some women tried to register a protest but could not succeed. The women said that the administration had identified encroachments which they removed voluntarily. Now the administration is doing injustice to them by removing the houses built on the additional land. The women said that they have been living here for years, are tenants, paying house tax, electricity bill etc. on time. Houses should be demolished after displacing them. Rajesh Raghuvanshi alleged that the constructions behind the identified place are also being demolished to benefit the land mafia and political pressure.
More than 200 employees were present
About 100 policemen, 70 police personnel, two tractor-trolleys, 5 JCBs, electric vehicles, one flying squad etc. were involved in the action. At the same time, the employees were asking the residents to voluntarily vacate their houses, otherwise strict action would be taken. The action continued till late evening.
Elderly handicapped woman started crying
Most of the houses on which action was taken were kutcha houses, huts. Manorama, a 70-year-old man, was living in a house with her daughter-in-law Deepika and three younger grandchildren. Manorama Bai cried when she was instructed by the employees involved in the action to vacate the house. He said that there are no men in the house, they are handicapped. Daughter-in-law Deepika told that she takes care of her three children 10, six and four years old by doing alms in the temple premises. Where will she go if you make her homeless? However, in view of the present situation, the administration has made temporary arrangements for his stay.
Displacement of lessee will be
Seeing the protest of the women, the SDM explained to them that those who have pattas, they will be displaced. But those who have bought land on lease, given it on rent or are running shops, they will not get any help. As the protest escalated, when the women policemen moved towards the women to make them sit in the jail vehicle, the women returned one by one, after which the action continued.
