The latest case has come to light from Roorkee in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. While making a reel, an engineering student was hit by a train and died on the spot. Ganganahar Kotwali police in-charge Govind Ram said on Thursday that 20-year-old Vaishali was standing on the railway track near Rahimpur railway gate with a friend on Wednesday evening and was making a ‘reel’ with her mobile and during this time she was hit by a train. ‘Reels’ are typically short videos and are extremely popular on social media. Nowadays, young men and women are going to any extent to make a reel. They don’t even shy away from making dangerous videos to get a few likes and views. Sometimes, in the process of making a reel, some people have to go to the police station and some lose their lives.

Vaishali, a resident of Haripur Tongia Buggawala area of Haridwar district, also lost her life due to the madness of this increasing reel. She was currently studying in Core Engineering College while staying at her maternal uncle’s house in Shivpuram Colony, Roorkee. Last Wednesday at around 6 pm, she had gone to visit Rahimpur railway gate near Shivapuram Colony with her friend. During this time, both the friends stood on the side of the railway track and started making reels from their mobile phones. Then suddenly a train was going from Haridwar towards Saharanpur, Vaishali got hit by it and she died on the spot.
Vaishali’s friend informed her family about the incident, after which the police reached the spot and did the Panchnama of the girl’s body and sent it for post-mortem. Kotwali in-charge said that the accident happened while making a reel on mobile.
