Manchester. Sri Lanka is in high spirits after the recent ODI series win against India. The Sri Lankan team is scheduled to tour England for a three-match Test series at the end of this month. England’s Test team captain Ben Stokes got injured while playing in the domestic cricket competition Hundred. His participation in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka has been put into question.
While playing for Northern Super Chargers against Manchester Originals, 33-year-old Stokes suffered a muscle strain in his left leg while trying to steal a quick run. He had to leave the field. He retired hurt after scoring two runs. The severity of his injury is not yet known and he will face the challenge of getting fully fit soon.
Stokes was taken away in an ambulance
When Ben Stokes got injured during a match in The Hundred, the physio went to the field to examine him and then brought him out by supporting him with his shoulders. The England Test captain was taken to the hospital in an ambulance on a stretcher. However, he returned to the stadium only after an hour. Stokes was seen walking with the help of crutches after getting injured.
Under Stokes’ leadership, England defeated West Indies 3-0 in the three-Test series last month. Its first match against Sri Lanka will be played at Old Trafford from August 21. The third and final match of this series will be played at the Oval from September 6. A decision on Stokes’ playing in the three-match series will be taken before the series begins.
