New Delhi. A massive fire broke out at the TRP Game Zone in Rajkot, Gujarat on Saturday, killing 28 people. The deceased include 12 children. The police have registered an FIR against six people, including the owner of the game zone. Owner Yuvraj Singh Solanki has been taken into custody and is being questioned. In a shocking revelation, it was found that visitors to the game zone had to sign a ‘death form’ at the entry gate. This form clearly states that the management will not be held responsible for any injury or death occurring within the premises. Only those who signed this form were allowed to enter the game zone.
The state government ordered an inquiry
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has ordered an inquiry into the incident. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the causes and circumstances of the fire. The Chief Minister visited AIIMS and other hospitals in Rajkot today and met the injured and their families and expressed his condolences. Police have registered a case against six people, including game zone owner Yuvraj Singh Solanki, Prakash Jain, Rahul Rathod and Mahendra Singh Solanki, under sections 304, 308, 337, 338 and 114 of the IPC. The fire may have been caused by a short circuit. It was also revealed that 2000 liters of diesel and 1500 liters of petrol were stored in the game zone, which further fuelled the fire. It is reported that the game zone lacked a fire safety NOC from the fire department and also did not have an emergency exit. There was only one gate for entry and exit, which greatly hampered rescue operations. The fire brigade immediately reached the spot and carried out rescue operations till late night.
The bodies of the victims were severely burnt, making identification challenging. DNA samples from the bodies have been sent to Gandhinagar for analysis. Various personalities, including President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed condolences over the incident. Spiritual guru Morari Bapu also expressed grief and paid tribute to the victims.
