This year, we have seen continuous hot days unlike last year where the weather changed from time to time. While the IMD has reported a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius, our temperature recording machines have shown temperatures as high as 54-55 degrees Celsius. In view of this scorching heat, we have issued guidelines to our jawans to cover their heads, faces, ears, eyes. They have been told to cover all exposed body parts while stepping out in the sun and carry water bottles with them.”
No respite from heatwave and heat right now
Meanwhile, IMD has issued a warning regarding the heat in Rajasthan. Giving information, IMD said that there is no possibility of getting any relief from heatwave and heat in the state right now. Jaipur Meteorological Department Director Radheshyam Sharma said that there is no improvement in the temperature till May 29.
Sharma said, “For the first time this season, the temperature in Phalodi in Rajasthan has crossed 50 degrees Celsius, while places like Jaisalmer and Barmer have witnessed a rise of seven degrees Celsius in night temperatures. There is no immediate relief from the scorching heat and nights will remain warm for the next two to three days. No significant change in maximum temperature is expected till May 29.”
Heat will decrease in some areas
However, due to weakening of anti-cyclonic conditions in the state, maximum temperatures are likely to fall by two to three degrees Celsius in parts of eastern Rajasthan from May 29 and in parts of western Rajasthan from May 30. Maximum temperatures are likely to be recorded close to normal in most parts of the state in the first week of June.” Sharma further said that strong winds with a speed of 25-35 kmph are likely to blow in parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer and Jaipur divisions during the next 72 hours.
