Paris Olympics 2024: India got its sixth medal in the 75 kg freestyle event of men’s wrestling in Paris Olympics 2024. 21-year-old young Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat won the bronze medal by defeating Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico 13-5. Aman was a contender to win the gold medal in this event but he had to face defeat against the wrestler from Japan in the semi-final match. At the same time, Aman Sehrawat’s coach, while talking exclusively to India TV, has just announced about the next Olympics to be held in the year 2028 that Aman will definitely win a gold medal from there.
Aman is a very hardworking wrestler, we were expecting gold this time
Regarding Aman Sehrawat, senior Indian coach Jagminder Singh said in a special conversation with India TV’s sports editor Sameep Rajguru that we were expecting gold this time but had to be satisfied with bronze. Aman works very hard and follows everything once he is told. We are sad that he could not win gold but he could not come due to some reason. Aman also promises us that he will bring gold in the next Olympics.
Jagminder Singh further said that only one of our wrestlers was able to qualify for the Paris Olympics because when we went to participate in the qualifying tournament, two of our wrestlers could not reach Dubai due to heavy rains at that time. They could not leave Dubai airport for three days due to no flights.
A wrestler has to pay more attention to his weight than to wrestling
After the semi-final match, Aman Sehrawat’s weight had reached 61.5 kg, after which a lot of hard work had to be done to bring his weight within the prescribed limit before the bronze medal match, in which another of his coaches Virendra Singh told India TV that after the semi-final match was over, we conducted a mat session for one and a half hours. After that, when we returned to the sports village at night, we did a session of gold bath, a session of treadmill and after that we weighed him, his weight was 900 grams. After this, we gave him hot water with honey. We did not sleep the whole night and when we weighed him in the morning, his weight was 56.9 kg. We lost 4.6 kg in one whole night.
