Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP from Rae Bareli Rahul Gandhi is constantly raising the issues of farmers in the Parliament. In this connection, farmer leaders met Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. These farmer leaders handed over two private member bills to Rahul Gandhi. There is a lot of discussion about these bills as to what demands the farmer delegation has made through these bills.
According to the information, one of the bills handed over to Rahul Gandhi by the farmers is about the legal guarantee of MSP and the other is on farmer loan waiver. Farmer leaders have requested the Congress MP to bring a private member bill in the Parliament. Rahul has assured the farmer leaders that he will discuss this with party leaders, colleagues and agricultural experts.
Farmers union raised this demand
On the other hand, a faction of the farmers union has demanded that the central government should waive off all agricultural loans and also provide a legal guarantee of minimum support price-MSP to increase the income of farmers. Rishipal Ambawata, national president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ambawata), also demanded to increase subsidy on various agricultural inputs including seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.
Rishipal Ambawata said that he wants that agricultural loans should be waived for farmers all over India. He said that the government should also give legal guarantee in terms of MSP, as well as procurement on MSP should be increased.
The farmer union leader said that they are holding a rally in Lucknow on August 10 to raise these demands.
