Morena (Rep. of New Zealand). Till now only one crop was grown at a time, but to increase the income from farming, many farmers of Morena district have started doing two crops simultaneously. Due to this the crops are saved from pests, diseases and the income of the farmers is also increasing. The Morena Zonal Agricultural Research Center has also promoted this technique and has also doubled the income of farmers from mustard cultivation. For this, berseem seeds were sown in mustard fields. For the last three years, farmers cultivating berseem seed along with mustard made almost double the income of those cultivating mustard alone. So this time the number of such farmers has increased.
Dozens of farmers of Hadbansi, Sata, Barauli and Lalbans villages of Morena district are cultivating Berseem (Lucan) along with mustard. One bigha of land produces four to four and a half quintals of mustard, which is sold at a price of Rs 7000 to 7500 quintal. That is, mustard worth 30 to 32 thousand rupees is produced in one bigha of land. In this one bigha field, one and a half to two quintals of berseem seed is produced, whose price is Rs 13000 quintal. That is, in one bigha, berseem seed worth 18 to 26 thousand rupees is produced. No separate land is required for cultivation of berseem seed, farmers do not have to bear the cost of additional tillage. Just one bigha requires 20 to 25 kg of urea and one irrigation after harvesting of mustard. In this additional expenditure, cultivation of berseem seed yields more income in mustard fields than from mustard. Similarly, hundreds of farmers in Morena, Ambah, Porsa area are cultivating coriander with lusan. Due to this his income has doubled.
Chana-Dhana’s jugalambadi saved the pest’s wrath:
In villages where farmers have grown coriander with gram, coriander with berseem and berseem with mustard. Its biggest advantage has also been that there was no outbreak of any kind of disease or pest in these crops. Worm disease is more in gram crop, which is not felt due to the aroma of coriander. That is, the crop of Dhana with gram ended the wrath of pests. Not only this, in one bigha field, farmers have got the production of coriander worth 10 to 12 thousand rupees. The gram crop is also good and the farmers will get an income of 15 to 18 thousand rupees per bigha. Scientists of Morena Agricultural Research Center also prove that the smell of coriander flowers protects other crops from diseases.
version
Most of the farmers in Morena district grow mustard alone. Under the pilot project, cultivation of berseem with mustard was done in four villages, which doubled the income of the farmers. This year also, mustard seeds are being cultivated in these villages along with berseem. This crop does not require any extra labor or land, it is a good thing for the farmers. The demand for berseem seed is also very high, so it is sold at high prices and there is no disease in the crops.
