Father's pain came to take the body of shed son in tears in Kota, the student was preparing for NEET for three years

Carpenter Ranjit Sharma, a resident of Tughlakabad in Delhi, wept on Friday while waiting for his son’s body outside the corpus of Kota hospital. His son Roshan Sharma (23) had been living in Kota for the last three years and was preparing for the NEET-UG exam.

According to the family, Roshan told his parents a few weeks ago that he would not appear in the examination on May 4 this year and he needs another year for preparation. Ranjit Sharma and his wife reached Kota on 22 April to take their son back home but Roshan refused to return home.

On Thursday morning, the police found his body in bushes near railway tracks in Kota. Initial investigation has revealed that he had probably ate some poisonous substance. The police have registered a case under Section 194 (A) of the IPC.

Roshan’s father told that his son was very good in studies and used to score 550 to 600 marks in regular examinations of the coaching institute. He said that he had recently told his sister that he needs another year to prepare perfectly. Police said that the family has not filed any allegations against anyone.

This is the 12th case of suspected suicide in Kota this year. In the year 2023, 17 such incidents came to light. On April 22, an 18 -year -old NEET student from Bihar also committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room. He wrote in the suicide note that neither his family nor his exam preparation is responsible for his death.

The increasing incidence of suicides of students in Kota, known as a coaching hub, has become a matter of serious concern for education and mental health. Experts often consider excessive study pressure and family expectations.
