Rajnandgaon (Representative of New Zealand). Even after continuous supply, the crisis of fertilizer continues in the cooperatives. Due to non-availability of fertilizers during Rabi season, farmers are facing a lot of problems. On the demand of the farmers, a consignment of 1300 tonnes of urea had arrived, but on the one hand the administration is continuously raiding the fertilizer shops to prevent profiteering, while on the other hand, instead of delivering fertilizers first to the cooperatives, they are sending it to the private sector. There is resentment among the farmers about this.
Due to non-availability of fertilizers, farmers are forced to buy sacks of urea from the market for Rs 400. While its official price is Rs 286. Due to not getting enough fertilizers from the committees, the farmers are being forced to buy fertilizers from the market. In the open market, urea is being sold at the rate of Rs 400 to 500 per bag. Farmers told that there is ample storage of manure in private shops. But the traders are selling it at an arbitrary price citing a shortage.
Rabi crop area increased: The area under Rabi crop has increased in the district. Rabi crops are being taken in one lakh 64 thousand 267 hectares. In view of the crops, the farmers have demanded fertilizers. But there is no food supply. This is the reason why farmers are forced to buy fertilizers from the market at expensive prices. With the shortage of manure, wheat, gram and other rabi crops are expected to be affected. The farmers said that on going to the cooperative society, it is returned after giving information about the lack of fertilizer. Along with urea, there is also a shortage of DAP in cooperatives.
following the rules
On the demand of farmers, a consignment of 1300 urea had arrived. The officers secretly sent 250 tonnes of urea to the private sector instead of storing it in cooperatives. Due to which many questions are being raised. The rule is that manure has to be stored in cooperative societies first. After this, the private sector has to supply manure. But departmental officials are not doing so. The departmental officers are running their arbitrariness. This is the reason why farmers have to wander for manure. A few days ago, the officials of the Agriculture Department had conducted raids to stop the black marketing of fertilizers. During this time a large number of manure storage was found in private fertilizer shops. Traders have started profiteering as soon as the action slows down.
