Controversy started over calling the ruling party a terrorist organization
According to the information, the ruling party and the opposition clashed during a heated debate over an opposition MP who is in jail. Opposition MP Sik, who called the ruling party a terrorist organization, was punched by one of the AKP MPs. Dozens of MPs started fighting with this. Some tried to stop others. A female MP was injured in this fight. Due to this, blood was also seen splattered on the white stairs of the Speaker’s platform. Another opposition member is also reported to be injured.
Atle is serving sentence in jail
Let us tell you that Atalay was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2022 for allegedly trying to overthrow the government by organizing the nationwide Gezi Park protests in 2013. Atalay was elected to parliament in May last year representing the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TIP).
Parliament adjourned after uproar
Parliament disqualified Atalay. Turkey’s Constitutional Court declared his expulsion invalid on August 1. After the clash, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the Parliament. After this incident, the ruling party and the opposition have also blamed each other.
