India’s women’s hockey team has been announced for the two matches against Germany. Savita Punia has once again been given the command of the 22-member team for the matches to be held on March 12 and 13. Earlier, Savita had also captained the Indian team in matches against Spain. Both the FIH Hockey Pro League matches between India and Germany will be played at the historic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The Indian team would like to win both the matches against the world number five team Germany.
Deep Grace Ace has been made the vice-captain of the Savita-led side. On the other hand, Maharashtra defender Akshata Abaso Dhekale and Haryana striker Deepika will be the new faces in the team. Both these players had performed brilliantly in the Hockey India National Championship.

Talking on the team selection, the head coach of the Indian women’s hockey team said, “It is a very exciting time for us. We will play two matches in a row against a good team at home. Germany is a consistently good team, whose technique is probably good. He is the best in the world. He defends very well and attacks fast. We have built a good team with a mix of young and experienced players and we would like to build on our good performance against Spain.” India played well against Spain and would like to maintain their momentum against Germany.
