The Finance Ministry will hold a meeting with government banks on June 25. The Finance Ministry has called a meeting of Public Sector Bank (PSB) heads on Tuesday to review the progress of various financial inclusion schemes including PM Vishwakarma, Jan Suraksha and Mudra Yojana. According to Bhasha news, the meeting will be chaired by Financial Services Secretary Vivek Joshi. According to sources, the progress of PM Vishwakarma, Standup India, PM Swanidhi and many other major schemes will be reviewed in the meeting. Apart from this, other issues related to financial inclusion will also be discussed in the meeting. Consensus can also be reached on many important issues.
30 lakh families will benefit from PM Vishwakarma Yojana
According to the news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in September last year. Under this, traditional craftsmen and artisans are given loan assistance at a minimum interest rate without any guarantee. Launched with a financial outlay of Rs 13,000 crore for a period of five years, this scheme will benefit about 30 lakh families of traditional artisans and craftsmen including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, laundry workers and barbers. Sources said that apart from this, the targets of PM Jan Dhan Yojana will be reviewed.
Prime Minister’s Life Jyoti Insurance Scheme and Security Insurance Scheme
Sources said the status of inactive accounts and issuance of RuPay cards under PMJDY will be reviewed. The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) provides a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh on death due to any reason to people in the age group of 18-50 years who have a bank or post office account. The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) provides an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh for accidental death or total permanent disability and Rs 1 lakh for partial permanent disability to people in the age group of 18-70 years.
To promote entrepreneurship at the grassroots level, banks have sanctioned more than Rs 40,700 crore to more than 1.80 lakh beneficiaries under the Standup India scheme in seven years. The Standup India scheme was launched on April 5, 2016. The scheme has now been extended till 2025. Last year, the government approved the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM Svanidhi) scheme till December 2024. The scheme was launched in June 2020.
