Bhopal. One person died in a fire on Wednesday in the old building of Morena District Hospital. The fire engulfed the main operation theater, burn unit and surgical ward. During this time, Timardar ran to take out his patients. In a hurry, the oxygen mask of a patient landed. Police said that the sad thing is that by the time he was taken out, he had died.
The smoke emanating from the flames of the flames quickly engulfed the gallery adjacent to the surgical ward, due to which the patients had to be taken out of the surgical ward and ward number 1 immediately. Some people helped to evacuate the patients, while others took out their drip and went out themselves.
City Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepali Chandoria told , “As soon as the fire spreads rapidly, Timardar ran to take out his patients. A patient’s oxygen mask landed in chaos, causing him to death before taking him safe out.”
Due to the fire, smoke was filled in the gallery adjacent to the surgical ward, causing the patients to be taken out of the surgical ward and ward number 1 immediately. The SP said, “The fire brigade was immediately called and he overcame the fire within 10–15 minutes.
Some patients were assisted by their relatives, while others removed the drip and moved out themselves and moved towards security.
“It is believed that the fire is due to a short circuit, although we will investigate the matter further,” the official said.
Sources said that the incident may have occurred due to fluctuations in electrical surcharge.
The police officer said that during the fire, emergency services were informed and fire brigade reached immediately. He told that the fire started around 5.45 pm. Fire brigade and hospital staff overcame the fire and stopped from moving forward.
