Today’s weather: It is extremely hot in many parts of the country at this time. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extreme heat conditions in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. This situation is expected to persist for the next five days. There is a possibility that in the coming days people may suffer from heat related diseases or suffer heat stroke.
IMD has issued a heatwave alert for isolated areas in Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail in Western Uttar Pradesh from today to April 29 and in Konkan from April 27 to April 29. According to the weather department’s forecast, isolated areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Eastern Uttar Pradesh are also likely to face heat wave conditions during this period.

Meanwhile, a western disturbance, known as a cyclonic circulation, is present over south Iran in the middle and upper troposphere levels, and may induce a cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan in the lower troposphere levels today. As a result, widespread light to moderate rainfall/snow with thunderstorm, lightning and possibly hailstorm is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from today and will continue till April 28.
Similarly, scattered rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds is expected in Punjab from 27 to 28 April and in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 27 April. Similar weather is likely to prevail in Rajasthan and Western Uttar Pradesh today. There is a possibility of sporadic hailstorm in Punjab and Haryana on April 27.

According to Skymet Weather, sporadic rain and thunder is possible in isolated areas of Madhya Pradesh, Central Maharashtra, South-East Rajasthan and East Gujarat and Delhi. Light rain is possible at 1 or 2 places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Light to moderate rain or snowfall is possible in Arunachal Pradesh. Light rain is possible in Northeast India and Sikkim.
