New Delhi. The captain who made Team India cry tears of blood in the year 2023 has been chosen as the ICC Player of the Year. This captain is none other than Pat Cummins. Australia’s Pat Cummins snatched the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup trophies from India last year. He won both these trophies for Australia under his captaincy. Pat Cummins was given the ECC Player of the Year trophy before the Australia vs Bangladesh match in the T20 World Cup.
In the T20 World Cup, the Super-8 match was played between Australia and Bangladesh in Antigua on Friday. Just before this match, Pat Cummins was honored with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. This trophy was handed over to Cummins by Australia’s Ricky Ponting. The trophy given to the ICC Player of the Year is named after Sir Garfield Sobers. Ricky Ponting himself has been selected as the ICC Player of the Year twice.
Pat Cummins has won the ICC Player of the Year trophy for the first time. ICC started this award in 2004. Rahul Dravid became the first cricketer in the world to win this trophy.
