Patiala, A sensational murder in Patiala district of Punjab was solved by the police in just six hours of the incident. On Thursday night, 55 -year -old Mahendra Singh was shot dead near the old bus stand. Seeing the seriousness of the case, the police immediately took action and arrested the accused. Police have also taken the vehicles and weapons used in the incident.
In this case, Patiala SP Palwinder Singh Cheema told in the press conference that he was informed about the murder at around 10 pm on Thursday night. As soon as the information was received, the police team was sent to the spot under the leadership of DSP City Satnam Singh. On reaching the spot, the police started an investigation through Human and Digital Footprints and identified the accused within just six hours and arrested him.
According to the SP, the deceased Mahendra Singh and accused Kunal Wadhwa were sitting together in the office. After some time something deteriorated between the two, after which Kunal fired five bullets on Mahendra. Police have recovered the vehicle and weapons used by the accused from the scene. Accused Kunal Wadhwa is about 31 to 32 years old and is from Patiala.
At present, the police is questioning the accused as to what reasons he killed Mahendra. SP Cheema said that the scope of investigation is being increased and it is also being investigated whether it was an old rivalry or there was a dispute over any partnership or money transaction. He also said that both were sitting in the same place and talking, so suddenly there is a thorough investigation to find out the reason behind taking such a big step.
According to the SP, it is clear that it can be a planned murder, as five bullets were fired very closely. The police will take further inquiries by taking the accused on remand and will try to get to the bottom of the whole incident.
