Patna. Five more mysterious deaths were reported from two villages of Siwan district on Sunday night after 37 people lost their lives in Bhagalpur, Banka and Madhepura.
The victims are residents of Sarawe and Chhotpur villages of Mufassil police station area of the district. According to villagers, he had consumed alcohol during Holi on Saturday. However, the relatives of the deceased have remained silent.
These people succumbed last night after complaining of abdominal pain, low visibility and vomiting since Saturday.
Siwan’s police and civil administration are camping in both these villages. The bodies could not be cremated till the time of writing this news. Villagers claim that the police officers present were pressurizing the families of the deceased to cremate the bodies without post-mortem.
Earlier, 37 people from Bhagalpur, Banka and Madhepura districts had died under mysterious circumstances since Saturday morning.
Bhagalpur district district magistrate Subrata Kumar Sen said: “We have taken statements of the family members of the deceased and two of them claimed that they died of a heart attack, while the others were allowed to go for post-mortem. One person is currently undergoing treatment and his statement is awaited.”
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Nitish Kumar government for failing to successfully implement prohibition in the state.
Tejashwi said, “I don’t know whether liquor is running in Bihar or not, but deaths due to spurious liquor are continuously happening here and Nitish Kumar has completely failed to stop the deaths. 42 people from four districts in the last two days.” lost his life due to spurious liquor.
