Flood in Afghanistan: Heavy rains have shown havoc in Afghanistan. Flash floods caused by heavy rains have caused massive devastation. At least 33 people have died and 27 others have been injured in the floods that followed the rains. Taliban spokesman Abdullah Janan Sack said that there was sudden flood in the capital Kabul and several provinces, causing huge damage.
rain caused havoc
Abdullah Janan said that more than 600 houses have either been destroyed or damaged due to the flood. About 200 cattle have died due to rain. SAC said 800 hectares of agricultural land has also been destroyed by the floods and more than 85 kilometers of roads have been damaged. He said that the floods caused the most damage in Western Farah, Herat, Southern Zabul and Kandahar provinces. At present, there is no sign of relief from rain in Afghanistan. The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in the coming days in most of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
The weather is getting worse
Even before this, many people have lost their lives in natural disasters in Afghanistan. Earlier in February, 25 people were killed in a landslide following heavy snowfall in eastern Afghanistan. Whereas about 60 people were killed in the three weeks of rain in March. The United Nations warned last year that Afghanistan was experiencing major changes in extreme weather conditions. Scientists say that due to global warming the weather patterns are worsening.(AP)
