There is a latest update for those flying from Delhi. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the operator of Delhi Airport, said on Wednesday that the new T1 terminal will come into operation from August 17. DIAL said that airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet are preparing to move a large part of their domestic operations to the new terminal. According to Bhasha news, operations were stopped there after a part of the roof of Terminal T1 collapsed in June.
SpiceJet and Indigo will shift flights
According to reports, the new terminal has been developed by DIAL as part of its Phase 3A expansion project. DIAL said in a statement that as per the plan, SpiceJet will shift its 13 flights to Terminal-1 from August 17 and after this IndiGo will move its 34 flights back to T1 from T2 and T3 from September 2. The new Terminal 1 was inaugurated in March. Delhi Airport has three terminals T1, T2 and T3.
The operation was suspended after the June incident
After a portion of the roof of Terminal T1 collapsed in June, all flight operations from Terminal 1 were suspended until further notice and were rescheduled to operate from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 while the respective airlines carried out relief work in the affected areas. Now, with its reopening, everything will be back to normal.
