New Delhi. Focusing on the farmers of the country, many agriculture related schemes and reforms have been announced in the budget. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that a provision of Rs 1.52 lakh crore has been made in the budget for farmers. To increase the income of farmers, the government will focus on natural farming. 1 crore farmers will be added under natural farming. Apart from this, Jan Samarth based Kisan Credit Cards will be issued in 5 states. To increase agricultural production, the government will comprehensively review the agricultural research setup to focus on developing productivity and climate-friendly varieties.

Under natural farming, 109 new high-yielding and climate-friendly varieties of 32 regional and horticultural crops will be developed for cultivation by farmers. In the next two years, 1 crore farmers across the country will be introduced to natural farming supported by certification and branding. Apart from this, 10 thousand bio research centers will also be built as per requirement. For self-sufficiency in pulses and oilseeds, their production, storage and marketing will be strengthened. The Finance Minister said that as announced in the interim budget, a strategy is being formulated by the government to achieve ‘self-sufficiency’ in the production of oilseeds like mustard, groundnut, sesame, soybean and sunflower.
The government will also pay special attention to increasing the production of vegetables. Farmer-producer organizations, cooperatives and start-ups will be promoted for their production as well as storage and sale. During this year, digital crop survey for Kharif will be conducted using DPI in 400 districts. This will increase the income of farmers. Along with this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said in the budget that the central government will run many comprehensive programs for dairy farmers.
