Chandigarh In the 10 -year -old bribery case, a special CBI court on Friday convicted former DSP RC Meena of Chandigarh Police and Aman Grover, owner of KLG Hotel. The court will announce his sentence on Saturday. Meena was arrested by the CBI in 2015. He was accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 70 lakh from the daughter of Chawla Petrol Pump owner located in Sector-22. Out of this bribe, 40 lakh rupees were to be received to Meena, while the remaining amount was to be known to Aman Grover.
According to the CBI, DSP Meena and Aman Grover had demanded Rs 70 lakh from Sector-9 resident Guneet Kaur for not arresting his family in a fraud case. The case was registered on 26 December 2014, in which a woman named Deepa Duggal filed a complaint. Guneet Kaur forcibly complained to the CBI for demanding bribe, after which the investigating agency arrested the accused red handed by putting a trap.
Initially, the name of Sanjay Dahuja, owner of Berkeley Company, also came to the case, but the CBI made him a government witness. At the same time, Surinder Kumar, a sub-inspector of the Chandigarh Police’s Economic Offex Wing (EOW), was also an accused, but the case was closed after his death. On Friday, as soon as the court convicted RC Meena and Aman Grover, the CBI immediately took them into custody. Now on Saturday, the court will decide how much punishment they will be given. – Special Network
