An Indian employee working for the United Nations has died in Rafah, Gaza. According to the information, the vehicle of the UN worker came under attack due to which the Indian died. Meanwhile, another employee was injured in the incident.
The deceased was a former Indian Army soldier
The Indian UN worker who died in Rafah was a staff member of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (DSS). The identity of the slain Indian has not been revealed yet but sources confirmed to PTI that he was from India and a former Indian Army soldier. Let us tell you that this is the first time that an international UN employee has died in the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
UN chief expressed grief
UN chief Antonio Guterres has expressed condolences on the death of the UN worker. He said that a UN vehicle was attacked in Gaza, one of our colleagues was killed and another was injured. He said that more than 190 United Nations employees have died in Gaza. The Secretary-General has once again appealed for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the release of all hostages.
