New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written an emotional letter on the departure of former Prime Minister of the country Manmohan Singh from the Rajya Sabha. In his letter, the Congress President has also underlined the contribution of the former Prime Minister to the country. Kharge has written how Manmohan Singh has served the country with great dedication and devotion and has worked for the poor. He has written that Manmohan Singh has been a person whose advice he gives importance to.
‘An era has ended’
At the beginning of his letter, Kharge addressed Manmohan and wrote, ‘Today when you are retiring from the Rajya Sabha after serving for more than three decades, an era has come to an end. Very few people can say that they have served our country with more dedication and devotion than you. Very few people have worked as much as you for the country and its people.
‘We will always be grateful to you’
In the letter, Kharge further wrote, ‘It is a personal privilege for me to be a part of your cabinet. Over the last 10 years, while I have been the leader of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, you have always been a source of wisdom and someone whose advice I value. Over the years, you have made sure to remain available to the Congress Party despite personal inconveniences. The party and I will always be grateful for this.

What else did Kharge write in the letter
Kharge wrote in the letter, ‘You have shown that it is possible to pursue economic policies that are equally beneficial to big industries, young entrepreneurs, small businesses, the salaried class and the poor. It was you who showed that even the poor can participate in the development of the country and come out of poverty. Thanks to your policies, during your tenure as Prime Minister, India was able to lift 27 crore people out of poverty, which is the largest number of people lifted out of poverty in the world.

In his letter, Kharge has also mentioned the MNREGA scheme and the nuclear deal during the time of Manmohan Singh’s government. On Obama mentioning Manmohan Singh, Kharge said, ‘I remember President Obama had said about you that whenever the Indian Prime Minister speaks, the whole world listens to him. These are just a few examples that I am mentioning among your many contributions to the nation.
