New Delhi. A major incident has come to light from Sri Lanka, where former cricketer Dhammika Niroshan was shot dead in front of his family at home. This tragic incident took place on Tuesday, July 16 at Niroshan’s Ambalangoda house, leaving the cricket world in mourning. According to local media reports, Niroshan was at home with his wife and two children at the time of the incident. The attacker allegedly used a 12 bore firearm and entered the house and shot the former Sri Lankan captain. The police have sent Niroshan’s body for post-mortem, but the motive behind the shooting is still not clear. The suspect fled from the spot immediately after carrying out the incident.
Dhammika Niroshan was known for his contributions to Sri Lankan cricket, having played first-class and Under-19 cricket for the country. He made his debut against Singapore in 2000 and captained the team on several occasions. Niroshan was a fast bowler and had an impressive record, taking seven wickets in five innings at an average of 19.28 during the 2002 Under-19 World Cup.
