Four new judges appointed from advocate quota took the oath of office at the swearing -in ceremony held in Rajasthan High Court today. Chief Justice MM Srivastava administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Mukesh Rajpurohit, Justice Sunil Beniwal, Justice Anand Sharma and Justice Sandeep Shah. After these four new appointments, the total number of judges in the Rajasthan High Court has increased to 38. It is noteworthy that a total of 50 posts of judges are approved in the Rajasthan High Court.
A large number of senior lawyers, judicial officers and dignitaries were present at the swearing -in ceremony held at the main bench. On this occasion, new appointments were described as an important step towards strengthening the judicial system and early settlement of pending cases.
It is noteworthy that currently more than 6.71 lakh cases are pending in the Rajasthan High Court, including 1.82 lakh criminal cases. About 77 percent of these cases are more than a year old. The appointment of new judges is expected to speed up the judicial process, which will provide relief to the general public.
However, even after these appointments, 12 sanctioned posts are still vacant, which causes more improvement in view of the increasing number of cases. People associated with the judiciary hope that appointments will be made soon to other vacant posts, which will make the judicial process easier. Increasing the number of judges will speed up decisions and reduce the number of pending cases.
