After the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha of the country, President Draupadi Murmu addressed both the houses. During this, she told what will be the priority of the government in the coming time. What good work has the previous government done and what things need to be paid attention to in this tenure. During this, she also talked about the protection of democracy, farmers’ income and the country’s economy. In her speech, she also mentioned paper leak, Northeast and Citizenship Amendment Act. Here we are telling the main points of her address.
- “This was the biggest election in the world. Nearly 64 crore voters have performed their duty with enthusiasm and zeal. This time too, women have participated in voting in large numbers. A very pleasant picture of this election has also emerged from Jammu and Kashmir. Many decades old voting records have been broken in the Kashmir valley.”
- “After six decades, a stable government with full majority has been formed in the country. People have shown trust in this government for the third time. People are aware of this. This government can fulfill their aspirations. The 18th Lok Sabha is a historic Lok Sabha in many ways. This Lok Sabha was formed in the early years of Amrit Kaal. In the upcoming sessions, this government is going to present the first budget of this term. This budget will be an effective document of major economic and far-reaching policies of the government as well as a futuristic vision. Social decisions and many historic steps will also be seen in this budget.”
- “The resolve to Reform, Perform and Transform has made India the fastest growing economy in the world today. My government is giving equal importance to all three pillars of the economy – manufacturing, services and agriculture. PLI schemes and ease of doing business are increasing investment and employment opportunities on a large scale. Sunrise sectors along with traditional sectors are also being promoted on mission mode.”
- “My government has provided Rs 3.20 lakh crore to the farmers of the country under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. More than Rs 20,000 crore has been transferred to the farmers since the beginning of the new term of my government. The government has also made a record increase in MSP for Kharif crops. Nowadays India is changing its agricultural system keeping in mind its current needs. Indian farmers have full capacity to meet this demand rapidly in the world, so the government is integrating the supply chain of natural farming and related products. The time to come is of Green Era. The government is also taking every necessary step for this. We are increasing investment on green industries, which has also increased green jobs. On the initiative of India, the whole world has celebrated International Millet Day in the year 2023. You saw that recently the whole world has also celebrated International Yoga Day. “
- “It is the constant endeavour of the government that the youth of the country get ample opportunity to showcase their talent. My government is committed to impartial investigation of the recent incidents of paper leak as well as to ensure strict punishment to the culprits. Earlier also we have seen incidents of paper leak in various states. This requires a nationwide concrete solution rising above party politics. Parliament has made a strict law against irregularities in examinations.”
- “The construction of India is possible only when the poor, youth, women and farmers of the country are empowered. Therefore, my government is giving them top priority. Our aim is to provide them the benefits of every government scheme. India is working with the willpower that not even a single person should be deprived of government schemes. It is because of the government’s schemes that 25 crore Indians have come out of poverty in the last 10 years. My government is developing affordable and indigenous assistive devices for Divyang brothers and sisters. My government is working to increase the scope of accident and life insurance by integrating social security schemes for workers. In the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the dignity of life of the poor and their health have been made a matter of national importance, for the first time toilets have been built for crores of poor. With these efforts, we realize that today the country is truly following the orders of Mahatma Gandhi.”
- “My government has increased the (budget) allocation for the development of the Northeast by more than 4 times in the last 10 years. The government is working to make the region a strategic gateway under the Act East Policy. Connectivity is being enhanced to the Northeast. My government has been continuously working to bring peace in the Northeast in the last 10 years, many old issues have been resolved, many agreements have been signed and the work of removing AFSPA is going on in a phased manner in the areas.”
- “My government has started giving citizenship to refugees under the CAA law. This has made it possible for many families affected by Partition to live a life of dignity. I wish a better future for the families who have got citizenship under the CAA.”
- “Even after the implementation of the Constitution in the country, there have been many attacks on the Constitution. Today is June 27, the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975 was the biggest and darkest chapter of a direct attack on the Constitution. There was an outcry in the whole country, but the country emerged victorious over such unconstitutional forces. Because the traditions of the Republic have been at the core of India. My government also does not consider the Constitution of India to be just a medium of supreme governance, but our Constitution should be a part of public consciousness. We are making efforts for this. Now the Constitution has been fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir as well.”
- “My government is going to take another decision. All the elderly above the age of 70 years will get the benefit of free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Opposition, prejudice, mindset and narrow selfishness have greatly damaged the basic spirit of democracy, it has affected the Parliament as well as the country’s development journey. Many such reforms have been done in the last 10 years, which are yielding benefits. Today, when these reforms were being done in the country, they were opposed, but all these reforms have stood the test of time. Today, for the first time, GST is becoming a medium to formalize India’s economy, to make trade and business easier. In the month of April, GST collection has crossed the level of Rs 2 lakh crore. This has increased the profits of the states.”
- “President Draupadi Murmu said that modernization of our armed forces is essential for a strong India. To be the best in the event of war, the process of reform in the armed forces should continue. With this thought in mind, my government has taken many important steps in the last 10 years. In the last decade, our defence exports have increased 18 times to Rs 21,000 crore.”
