Born on 1 April 1937 in Kolkata, Hamid Ansari was educated at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He then took the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination and joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Hamid Ansari represented India in many countries as an IFS officer. The list includes countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

3. Representation in the United Nations

Mohammad Hamid Ansari has also represented India at the United Nations. He was India’s permanent representative in the United Nations from 1993–95.

4. Become Vice President twice

Mohammad Hamid Ansari has been the Vice President of India not once but twice in a row. In 2007, he became the 12th Vice President of India. In 2012, he was again elected Vice President. After Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Shri Krishna Singh, he became the third political person of the country to become Vice President twice in a row.

Hamid Ansari has also been the Vice Chancellor of AMU. He has also been the Chairman of the National Minorities Commission.

6. Padma Vibhushan rejected
