New Delhi. Rajasthan Royals, who entered Eliminator 2 with the hope of reaching the final of the Indian Premier League, were disappointed. The team that started the tournament in a strong manner, lost 4 out of the last 5 matches in the league stage. The team that defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in Eliminator 1, fell to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Eliminator 2. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar looked very angry about Riyan Parag’s dismissal in this match.
Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 175 runs for 9 wickets thanks to Enrique Klaasen’s fifty and Rahul Tripathi’s 37-run innings. While chasing the target, Rajasthan’s batting faltered badly. The team lost 6 wickets before 100 runs and finally the team could reach only 139 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. After the dismissal of captain Sanju Samson, the team had hopes from Riyan Parag but the way he lost his wicket proved to be a turning point.
Gavaskar got angry at Riyan Parag
When Rajasthan lost the wicket of captain Sanju Samson, the score was 67 runs for 3 wickets. The team was expecting a patient innings from Riyan Parag who was in good form but he lost his wicket while trying to hit a big shot. While trying to hit Shahbaz Ahmed’s ball, he gave his catch to Abhishek Sharma.
Gavaskar reacted sharply to this during commentary. He said- “Really…Riyan Parag got out like this. What is the use of you being so talented if you don’t use your brain.”
