Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday targeted Uddhav Thackeray fiercely. When Fadnavis was asked about how to fuel the Marathi dispute, he exposed all the poles. He even called Uddhav Thackeray a ghazni of politics.
Speaking on the language dispute at the Mumbai Townhall program, Fadnavis said, when the new education policy came, it was clearly said that Marathi, English and Hindi will be mandatory from class 1 to 12. At that time Uddhav ji approved it. But as soon as the election came near, he changed his intention. He became a ghajni … forgot that he had taken the decision.
Will not allow foreign languages
Fadnavis reminded that this policy was decided during Uddhav Thackeray’s tenure. Yes, GR means government proposal definitely came in his time. He raised the question, if we want to teach three languages, then we had said- if not Hindi, then choose any language of the country, but why oppose the red carpet and Hindi for English? It is clear that the third language will be only Indian, we will not allow any foreign language.
Why did the dispute arise?
The language issue in Maharashtra has always been sensitive. Marathi Asmita, Opposition to Hindi and Priority to English – These have been becoming different vote banks for all three political parties. In such a situation, when it came to the implementation of the new education policy (NEP) in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray made it an issue of Marathi identity. He said that it is not right to impose language on students. According to BJP, this became the root of Uttar Pradesh dispute.
