There has been a big explosion in Ghana, a country in West Africa. So far, at least 17 people have died and about 59 people have been injured in this explosion. The blast in a rural area located in the western region of Ghana was so strong that its effects were felt in hundreds of nearby buildings.
According to information received by news agency AFP, the explosion took place when a vehicle carrying explosives used in mining operations collided with a motorcycle. The blast that followed this collision shook the entire area. Those injured in the blast have been admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Significantly, the area of the explosion is visible in the pictures and videos that are coming out on social media. In which dozens of buildings have either collapsed, or are seen turning into piles of rubble. The administration has advised people to move from the accident site to other cities till the situation becomes normal as before. Seji Saji Amedonu, deputy director general of the National Disaster Management Organisation, said about 500 buildings were affected by the blast.
