The image of Delhi Police is once again stained. The Vigilance team arrested ASI Sushil Sharma posted at Govindpuri police station for taking bribe. He was demanding ₹ 10,000 from a daily wage laborer complainant and had already taken ₹ 5,000. While taking the remaining amount, the Vigilance team caught him red -handed. The special thing is that instead of taking this amount directly, ASI was taking bribe through a chai woman. Vigilance has also arrested the woman.
The complainant’s understanding opened
The incident is from Govindpuri police station area, where ASI Sushil Sharma, who is investigating a quarrel and attack case, allegedly demanded ₹ 10,000 in exchange for removing the name from one side. The victim gave ₹ 5,000 as the first installment. After this, when bribe was sought again, he contacted the Vigilance Unit of Delhi Police and informed him. The vigilance team laid a trap and under the trap operation, the complainant was asked to give the remaining amount to a woman running a tea shop, as the accused gave the instructions. As soon as the money reached ASI via the woman, the Vigilance team caught both of them red -handed.
In police service since 1990, now 14 days judicial custody
Sushil Sharma joined Delhi Police in 1990 and was posted at Govindpuri police station for the last two years. After being caught taking bribe, he was produced in the Rouse Avenue Court, from where the court sent 14 days to judicial custody. At the same time, the accused woman, who runs a tea shop, is also being questioned by presenting it in the court. Investigations also see if she has been involved in such activities before.

Question raised again on police reform
This incident has once again raised questions on the transparency and honesty of the police system. While Delhi Police claims to work with corruption -free and public trust, on the other hand such incidents break the trust of common citizens. However, the readiness and activism of the vigilance unit proved that no one is above the law – whether it is in uniform or behind it.
