Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst (Commodity) at HDFC Securities, said, “Taking cues from foreign markets, the spot price of gold (24 carat) in Delhi markets was trading at Rs 63,300 per 10 grams.” Gold was trading at $2,029 an ounce, which shows a fall of four dollars from the previous closing price. However, silver was trading marginally higher at $22.29 an ounce.
Gold futures prices fall
Amid weak spot demand, speculators reduced the size of their deals, due to which the price of gold fell by Rs 84 to Rs 62,440 per 10 grams in futures trade on Thursday. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the price of the contract for delivery in the month of April fell by Rs 84, or 0.13 percent, to Rs 62,440 per 10 grams. 14,217 lots were traded in this. Market analysts said the fall in gold futures prices was due to trimming of positions by traders. Globally, gold fell 0.19 percent to $ 2,047.90 an ounce in New York.
