New Delhi. Akasa Air has now allowed passengers to carry pets weighing up to 10 kg in the cabin of domestic flights. The airline on Wednesday announced an increase in the weight of pets that can be carried on flights. It has taken this step keeping in mind the customer feedback. Akasa Air in November 2022 allowed passengers to travel with cats and dogs in the cabin or cargo, depending on their weight, on domestic flights.
Earlier, the weight limit for pets inside the cabin was set at seven kilograms, which has now been increased to 10 kilograms. The airline said in a statement that pets weighing up to 32 kg are allowed in cargo. More than 3,200 pets have traveled on the airline’s flights since the service started in November 2022. Among Indian airlines, apart from Akasa Air, only Air India allows pets in the cabin while SpiceJet allows pets in cargo.

On the other hand, the statement of the company’s Managing Director Alok Singh has come out today regarding the cancellation of more than 90 flights of Air India Express after a large number of employees fell ill. The MD has sent an emotional message to all his staff. He said, ‘Since yesterday evening, more than 100 of our colleagues have taken sick leave. Most of these are L-1 employees, due to which more than 90 flights have been affected.
